CHELMSFORD, Mass., Aug. 12, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Brooks Automation, Inc. (Nasdaq:BRKS - News) held their Third Annual Scholarship Awards Dinner on August 11th to announce and honor students selected to receive awards as part of the Brooks Automation Annual Scholarship Program.

The Program is open to all children of Brooks Automation's domestic full-time and part-time employees enrolled in an accredited College or University. Each of the 2009 recipients was selected based on their strong academic performance, a written essay, and their involvement in extracurricular activities. International Scholarship and Tuition Services, Inc. (ISTS), a third party administrator, reviews all applications and selects the recipients of the scholarships.

At the award ceremony hosted by Brooks, Robert J. Lepofsky, President and Chief Executive Officer of Brooks, noted, "College age students and their parents face more challenges than ever. Brooks has maintained their commitment to supporting the goals of our employees to ensure the best educational opportunities for their children. The fifteen Brooks Automation Annual Scholarship Program recipients for the 2009/2010 academic year are: Brett Dumas, Worcester Polytechnic Institute majoring in biology; Jessica Gaissl, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth majoring in nursing; Michael Harrington, Northeastern University majoring in engineering; Erica Holdridge, Florida State University majoring in veterinary science; Jacquelyn Holmes, Bates College majoring in history; James Jackson, University of New Hampshire majoring in engineering; Hillary Keefe, Ithaca College majoring in communications; Anna Makrianis, University of Miami majoring in criminal justice; Emily Martin, University of Maryland: Baltimore County majoring in sociology; Emily Mayfield, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences majoring in dentistry; Jacob Murphy, Emory University majoring in political science; Maryellen Pearce, University of Tampa majoring in psychology, Tara Pereira, University of Connecticut majoring in dentistry; Jessica Raffaelo, University of Massachusetts Lowell majoring in criminal justice; and Kenneth Underwood, Texas A&M University majoring in sciences & physics.
