(NASDAQ:PLCM - News) is introducing the latest addition to its VVX 1500 solutions portfolio, the Polycom VVX(TM) 1500 D business media phone, the industry's first simultaneous dual-stack (H.323 and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)) device. This new UC endpoint is ideally suited for large organizations with existing H.323 video deployments that are planning for a future where video and telephony communication will migrate into one UC platform. Polycom's family of VVX 1500 business media phones are the only devices to combine a personal video conferencing system with a fully featured voice over IP (VoIP) telephone with Polycom HD Voice(TM) and an open application programming interface (API) and Web browser for real-time delivery of personalized Web content as well as integration with key business applications.

The VVX 1500 D is an affordable, easy-to-use personal video conferencing system that seamlessly integrates with existing H.323 video networks enabling managers and knowledge workers to make instant, one-touch point to point and multipoint video calls to all other video systems. In addition to H.323, the VVX 1500 D simultaneously supports the SIP signaling protocol. This enables integration with Polycom certified SIP-based UC platforms that provide advanced IP telephony capabilities. In environments that have a mix of H.323 and SIP, the VVX 1500 D will automatically select the appropriate protocol based on the capabilities and location of the destination device. As the number of VVX 1500 SIP certified platforms grows, enterprises will be able to take full advantage of all of the VVX 1500 D's capabilities including video conferencing, telephony and applications.

    including: six lines, Polycom HD Voice technology, a Gigabit Ethernet

    features can be accessed via the buttons on the front of the phone or by

    functionality requires integration with a Polycom certified SIP call
