Generations for Peace Camp 08: HRH Prince Feisal al Hussein of Jordan's pioneering youth peace initiative reaches its second year.
From Tuesday 25th November to Friday 5th December, Amman, Jordan will play host to the second annual Generations for Peace camp, which brings together youth leaders from sixteen Asian and African countries troubled by conflict.
Founded by HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein of Jordan, Generations For Peace uses sport as a vehicle for peace building in divided communities. After a successful pilot camp last year, where youth leaders from seven countries learned the skills to run peace programmes and cascade their learning back home, this year 70 delegates have come together from countries including Iraq, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Sudan, Palestine, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and Liberia.
The Peace Pioneer Certification Programme will be delivered during Camp 08.The delegates receive training from international sport coaches in instructing children in sports such as football, volleyball and basketball, as well as also receiving training from leading international and local education experts in areas such as conflict resolution and peace building.
