Daniel Ornstein Joins Powerhouse Practice as Partner
LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Proskauer Rose LLP is proud to announce the continued expansion of its global labor and employment practice and London office with the addition of Daniel Ornstein as a partner.
A highly experienced labor and employment lawyer, Mr. Ornstein’s practice cuts across a wide array of sectors and locales. His work on behalf of management is extensive and includes: the employment-related aspects of domestic and international public and private transactions; large-scale workforce reductions, including compensation issues, labor-management negotiations and managing the full gamut of legal and commercial risks; High Court litigation involving restrictive covenants and team moves as well as bonus disputes; employment tribunal litigation, including unfair dismissal, whistleblowing, discrimination, victimization and wage and hour/working time; and all aspects of trade union and collective labor law, including those in connection with mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Ornstein has recently represented various U.S., Swiss and Scandinavian banks, German and Swiss insurance companies, a U.S. software company and U.K. financial services companies, among many others, and has been involved in a number of leading cases. A graduate of the University of Oxford and The City University, he joins the firm from Herbert Smith.
Paul Salvatore, co-chair of Proskauer’s Labor and Employment Law Department, points to Mr. Ornstein’s strong track record of success as a key factor in the firm’s decision to tap him for this important role in the expansion of a much-heralded practice.
“Dan is just what we’ve been looking for in London: a dynamic go-getter with broad and deep experience and impeccable client relationship skills,” he said. “He can jump right in to help existing clients across our platform, as well as play an integral role in accelerating the growth of our European practice.”
Elise Bloom, co-chair of the department, added that Mr. Ornstein would immediately become an extremely valuable component of the group’s international platform, which includes lawyers in the firm’s Paris, New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Boston, New Orleans, Newark and Boca Raton offices.
“Dan helps position our practice, particularly in the U.K. and across Europe, for the future. We are thrilled to call him our partner.”
Mr. Ornstein is the latest addition to Proskauer’s London office, which also recently announced that Robert Barry, the former head of Travers Smith’s Investment Funds Group, would join the firm, and that Alisa Chhoa, a senior funds associate, had joined from Clifford Chance.
With more than 150 lawyers, Proskauer’s management-oriented Labor and Employment Law Department is among the most respected and recognized in the world. It has been described by Chambers as "one of the premier employment practices" with a "deep bench" that puts the firm "in a league of its own” with “a number of the sector’s best known figures." The department handles complex employment law and employment litigation matters as well as traditional collective bargaining and labor relations matters. It also includes one of the largest employee benefits and executive compensation practices in the United States, with its own litigation group to handle fiduciary and other claims under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, as well as one of the largest immigration groups in the U.S. and an international labor and employment practice.
