Raytheon gets $8.7 million Navy deal for engineering services on LPD-17 ships

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A unit of Raytheon Co. received an $8.7 million contract from the Navy to provide services for the LPD-17 class of ships, the Pentagon said late Monday.

The defense contractor will provide engineering and support for the shipboard's electronic systems.

Work will be performed in San Diego, Chula Vista, Calif., and Norfolk, Va., and is expected to be completed by December 2009.

Shares of the Waltham, Mass., company added 45 cents to close at $45.73.
