Red Back Announces West Branch Getting Bigger

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 27, 2009) - Red Back Mining Inc. (TSX:RBI - News; the "Company" or "Red Back") is pleased to announce further exploration results from drilling at the West Branch Deposit at its Tasiast Gold Mine in Mauritania ("Tasiast").
Recent drilling continues to support the discovery of a new and extensive zone of mineralization at West Branch, extending along strike and at depth below the current pit design.
The intercepts reported below and shown in the accompanying drill sections and plan map represent results and interpretations received and modeled since the last resource calculation (News Release: September 14, 2009).

Note: True width is estimated to be on average approximately 95% of
drilled intercepts.
As shown in the attached Figure 1, the above intercepts lie outside the current pit design for West Branch. Given the consistent grade and robust widths of these new intercepts, the Company is confident that a high percentage of this mineralized zone will convert to Reserves.
Attached Figures 2 and 3 clearly demonstrate the potential for depth extension below the currently reported Resource at West Branch. As significantly, hole TA02235RC (Figure 4 - 62m grading 3.67g/t) extends the mineralization 175m to the north of the Resource. This new, wide, high grade zone has now been identified over a strike length of 750m and it remains open to the north and south and down dip. Drilling is ongoing.
