BOULDER, Colo., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Room 214, a Boulder, Colo.-based social media agency (www.room214.com), today announced it will donate free tickets to the first 100 people who tweet about the iEmpathize (www.iempathize.org) Launch Party and Concert taking place at the Boulder Theater, Mon., Sept. 21 at 7 pm. This social media promotion is available by tweeting about the event by using the hashtag "#iempathize" before Sept. 21. Anyone interested in supporting iEmpathize also can purchase tickets to the event for $20 at www.iEPresents.com
The iEmpathize Launch Party and Concert provides people in the Boulder/Denver area an opportunity to take an active role in changing the lives of children around the world that are brutalized by the menacing problem of child sex trafficking. The evening will feature a performance by Son Lux (NPR's "Best Unknown of 2008"), the premiere of the masterfully produced iE short film, and the Empathy Experience, a gallery installation with story-telling artifacts from locations across the world.
"There are many reasons to be aware of and support this very special event," said Jason Cormier, managing partner of Room 214. "First and foremost, the sex trafficking of children is perhaps one of the most heinous crimes of humanity. Although it's more prevalent in poverty stricken areas like Southeast Asia, people should know this kind of slavery exists even in our own state. It's a privilege to support a local non-profit startup like iEmpathize, an organization birthed and based from our hometown that is making a difference worldwide. Some things we must choose not to look away from."
iEmpathize focuses on bringing to light issues of injustice that are often overlooked or ignored. It has developed two campaigns; iExplore, focusing on understanding, and iEngage, focusing on involvement. iEmpathize creates "Empathy Experiences and Events" using media tools, the arts and publicity events. It creates multiple initiatives that work toward understanding and involvement, which materialize in home gatherings, a yearly concert series, business partnerships, student movements and a faith community network. Ultimately, these efforts translate to developing field partnerships to resource existing under-funded human rights organizations and their programs.
"Room 214 has been here for us since the organization's inception," said Brad Riley, founder and president of iEmpathize. "The kids are the real CEO's of this cause, and we have experienced a compassionate groundswell of love and support from the Boulder/Denver area. It will be an honor to share the film, Empathy Experience and Son Lux concert as part of the formal launch of iEmpathize at the Boulder Theater."
About iEmpathize
iEmpathize is an Arts and Advocacy non-profit (501c3) that creates opportunities for people to explore and engage in issues of injustice. iE is a pathway to the vulnerable and victimized. Our efforts are focused on what we believe to be one of the darkest human rights violations existing today, child sex slavery. Through iE events and initiatives we generate funding and resources for proven strategies that are currently impacting this issue. Sympathy is feeling badly for the suffering of others. It is passive, allowing separation to exist between the bystander and the victimized. Empathy closes this gap by diving into the suffering of others. It is active, compelling the empathizer toward action. Empathy is the essence of iEmpathize. For more information please visit www.iempathize.org
