SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(MARKET WIRE)--Mar 12, 2009 -- Rural/Metro Corporation (NasdaqCM:RURL - News), a leading provider of ambulance and private fire protection services, announced today it has been awarded a new contract as the exclusive provider of non-emergency ambulance services in Eugene, Oregon.

Under the contract, which begins March 15, 2009, Rural/Metro will provide all non-emergency ambulance services in the city. The City of Eugene is the licensing agent for all ambulance services in the city, and Eugene Fire & EMS is the primary provider of 911 ambulance services. The contract was awarded in a competitive bidding process and includes a 3-year initial term followed by three 1-year renewal periods.
