TRINITY, N.C. (AP) -- Sealy Corp.'s president and CEO, Lawrence J. Rogers, will retire next year, the mattress company announced Tuesday.
Rogers, 63, joined the company in 1979 as a sales manager and worked his way up through the company, serving in various leadership roles. He was named president and CEO in 2008.
He helped lead Sealy through various milestones, including helping establishing a joint venture system in Asia, leading the company in its development of the Stearns & Foster line and directing it in its entry into South America.
Sealy said its board has retained an executive search firm to help with its search for potential candidates.
The company, based in Trinity, N.C., owns the largest bedding brand in the world with a range of mattresses lines such as Stearns & Foster, Bassett and its namesake.
Shares of the company rose 1 cent to $1.87 in midday trading.
