Marks Second Consecutive Year Heartland Receives Distinction
PRINCETON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For the second consecutive year, Heartland Payment Systems® (NYSE: HPY) has been named the top service company to sell for in the United States by Selling Power® magazine. Heartland, one of the nation’s largest payments processors, competed against companies including FedEx, IKON, Aramark and Google for this distinction.
“Earning this award two years in a row is a great tribute to our entire organization,” said Sanford Brown, chief sales officer at Heartland. “This is a testament to the efforts put forth by our incredible sales force, sales leaders, account management channel, service center and all the employees who support the outstanding Heartland sales engine. We are extremely proud of our team.”
Heartland's entrepreneurial business and compensation model uses proven rewards to incentivize its sales force, including weekly signing bonuses and long-term portfolio ownership with residual income. Combined with its talented team of professionals, this model has enabled Heartland to grow from 25 employees to 3,100, and from $0.4 billion to $80 billion of annualized Visa®/MasterCard® volume since its founding in 1997.
"Being #1 affirms that Heartland offers the best direct sales opportunity in America,” said Brown. “Despite hard economic times and growing unemployment rates, individuals can take control of their own livelihoods with rewarding, professional careers based on hard work and integrity. Heartland provides the opportunity and infrastructure for them to thrive."
Selling Power’s “50 Best Companies to Sell For” list, in its ninth year, ranks the top 25 best service and the top 25 best manufacturing companies to sell for. Companies are evaluated on three key categories: compensation, training and career mobility. This year's list ― featured in the 2009 November/December issue of the magazine ― represents a wide variety of sub-industries including software/systems, food/beverage, household, health, construction, information/communications, hospitality, transportation, and financial services. Heartland also made Selling Power’s “500 Largest Sales Forces In America” list, ranking 83rd in the service sector (October 2009). This was a significant increase from its ranking of 98 the previous year.
“I am delighted to congratulate Heartland,” commented Gerhard Gschwandtner, Selling Power's founder and publisher. “Heartland is only the second company to receive the #1 designation two years in a row. This is truly a company that makes a concerted effort to create a world-class sales organization determined to help its customers win.”
