FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) -- Staples Inc. is promoting Christine Komola to chief financial officer, effective Feb. 1.Komola, who has worked for the world's biggest office supply retailer since 1997, will report to the company's vice chairman, John Mahoney, who has been CFO since 1996.She has served as vice president of planning and control, senior vice president and corporate controller and CFO of the company's web site. Komola will take on the duties of CFO over the next year.Staples reported last month that its second-quarter net income climbed 36 percent, helped by strong international revenue.Shares of the Framingham, Mass. company added 49 cents, or 3.7 percent, to $13.93 in midday trading. Over the past year, the stock has traded in a range of $11.94 to $23.75.
