Oncolytics Biotech Inc. (ONCY) is a development stage biotechnology company focused on the development of oncolytic viruses as potential cancer therapeutics. The Company's clinical program includes a variety of phase I/II and phase II human trials using REOLYSIN, its proprietary formulation of the human reovirus, alone and in combination with radiation or chemotherapy. "The Company has been granted approximately 200 patents worldwide, including 30+ U.S. patents and 11 Canadian patents covering REOLYSIN technology and modified herpes and adenoviruses. In September, ONCY was granted with its 32nd U.S. Patent, No. 7,582,289, entitled Viruses for the Treatment of Cellular Proliferative Disorders. The patent claims cover methods of using modified parapoxvirus orf virus to treat Ras-mediated cancers. The Company has now secured five U.S. patents covering the use of other oncolytic viruses to treat Ras-mediated cancers.

"In September, the Cancer Therapy Research Center at the University of Texas Health Science Center started patient enrolment in a U.S. phase II clinical trial using intravenous administration of REOLYSIN in combination with paclitaxel and carboplatin in patients with metastatic melanoma. The trial is a single arm, open-label, phase II study of REOLYSIN given intravenously with paclitaxel and carboplatin every three weeks. It is anticipated that up to 43 patients will be treated in the study."
