HOUSTON, Sept. 14, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- After silently suffering for most of her life, Melissa Binstock finally comes out into the open as she shares her thoughts while battling various disorders in Nourishment.
Binstock opens a window into the goings-on in her head as she struggled to gain control of a body that seemed to behave independently of her will, and a mind that refused to cooperate. Diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome, anorexia nervosa, dyslexia, and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Binstock started suffering her various disorders at a young age, and, while deeply disturbed by what was happening to her, could not understand and could only act according to the perverted whims of her dysfunctions.
Nourishment gives a glimpse into the state of mind of a person who suffered without knowing why, struggling to understand her condition through writing. Binstock began recording her experiences and, in the process, reliving every painful detail, all in the aim to help herself get well. Her intimate descriptions of her illnesses will permeate into the reader's consciousness, arousing an empathic vicarious experience of every painfully confusing incident.
Nourishment is not only a vivid record of what goes on within a dysfunctional person's mind, but is also a heartrending record of the social impacts that inexorably result from such illnesses, and how one woman struggled to prevail over them.
