FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- Tandy Leather Factory Inc. said Thursday that sales at stores open at least a year rose 9 percent in August.
Total sales climbed 2 percent to $4.1 million in the month.
For the year to date, same-store sales increased 4 percent while total sales dipped 1 percent to $35 million.
Same-store sales, or sales at stores open at least a year, are a key indicator of retailer performance since they measure growth at existing stores rather than newly opened ones.
Shares of Tandy Leather Factory shed a penny to $2.99 in afternoon trading.
