LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- UTi Worldwide Inc., which provides air and ocean-freight-forwarding services, said late Monday that it named Donald W. Slager to its board.
Slager's appointment was effective Sunday. He will serve a term that expires at the company's 2010 annual shareholder meeting.
UTi said it also named Slager to its compensation, nominations and corporate governance, and risk committees. His appointment brings UTi's board to eight members.
Slager, 47, has been president and chief operating officer of Republic Services since December 2008, after that company combined with Allied Waste where he had served in the same capacity since January 2005.
