Community Bank Turns Online Clicks into $30,000 in Donations to Nonprofits
PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Umpqua Bank, a subsidiary of Umpqua Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ:UMPQ - News), named YWCA Clark County the winning nonprofit of its “Click 4A Cause” campaign. Receiving more community votes than any other participating nonprofit during Umpqua’s Click 4A Cause campaign, YWCA Clark County in Vancouver, Wash., will receive a $15,000 donation from Umpqua Bank towards their community garden project. Additionally, Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley and Kids Unlimited will received a combined donation of $15,000 toward the formation of a teen financial literacy curriculum in the Chico, Calif. area and a culinary education program for low-income kids in Medford, Ore., respectively.
“Community nonprofits are in need of financial support now more than ever, with many receiving less funding when the need is higher,” said Nicole Stein, vice president of community responsibility for Umpqua Bank. “We developed Click 4A Cause to help three nonprofits explore new online avenues to generate visibility and grow community support, while overcoming the financial challenges facing them in the current economy. We’re pleased to be able to help bring these programs to life and look forward to continued work with these nonprofits as they serve our communities.”
“Partnering with Umpqua Bank for the Click 4A Cause campaign has helped raise awareness of YWCA Clark County efforts,” said Jennifer Werdel, YWCA Clark County director of development and communications. “The campaign allowed us to extend our community outreach through the world of social media, and in turn provided critical funding to a project that fulfills a basic need.”
Through Umpqua’s Click 4A Cause campaign, Umpqua Bank donated $1 for every online vote of support the nonprofits received during the eight-week campaign beginning on July 13. Using the click of a mouse, communities cast more than 27,000 votes to help Umpqua Bank bring the following community projects to life:
