Saudi jets bomb Yemen rebels
In an apparent bid to help its neighbor control an escalating Shiite rebellion, Saudi Arabia sent fighter jets and artillery bombardments across the border into N. Yemen to hit rebel targets. The Saudis have been increasingly worried that extremism and instability in Yemen could spill over the border. The offensive came 2 days after the killing of a Saudi soldier, blamed on the rebels.
MEXICO: A gang of gunmen killed an off-duty U.S. airman and 5 others at a bar in the Mexican border city of Ciudad Juarez, authorities said.
BURMA: The U.S. won't lift its sanctions on the country unless its ruling generals make concrete progress toward democratic reform, a senior U.S. diplomat said.
ISRAEL: PM Benjamin Netanyahu said the shipment of hundreds of tons of arms on a seized Iranian ship bound for Hezbollah was a war crime that the U.N. Security Council should investigate. Iran-backed Hezbollah denied that the weapons were bound for them.
