HENDERSON, Texas, Oct. 12, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Self-publishing Company Xlibris releases Salt Lick, Vol. I: Celebrate Life, an engaging read that celebrates the magnificence of youth and young adulthood. Authored by Dr. Robert A. "Sunny" Brock, this is the first volume of a life-changing inspirational, true knee-slapper historical comedy. O'Riley cousins fight ravages of American frontier-life pursuing Solomon's answer to the question, "What am I doing here?" In an age when cousin-marriages were vogue, the O'Riley clan-cousins step out of the pages of history and spin a true tale of heart-gripping, unforgettable characters seeking true purpose for man's existence. The overwhelming take-away philosophy transfers readers back to a time when men tenaciously treated their women with genteel care, protecting a woman's right to be mysterious.

Brock uses every personality on the DISC Personality Scale, elbowing readers to relate to characters on a vicarious personal level. Protagonists Ali and Thomas O' Riley join eight second generation Irish immigrant cousins on a quest to visit all five of their paternal uncle's families before Ali is forced to marry and settle down to drudgery of pioneer life. Although Ali's Stoic mother disagrees, cousins take on the American frontier in an Indiana Jones-type misadventure, endangering life and limb from Louisiana Snake Handlers' Revival to Buffalo, New York Foresters Annual Hawg Race, Columbia U Cotillion, plight of the American Indian under Andrew Jackson administration, to abolitionist philosophy. The author closes the first volume with a nostalgic meeting of O'Riley brothers preparing to depart in peace and leave the next generation to "fix" the world.

The tale based on true frontier events continues to unfold in Salt Lick Vol. II: the Innocents, Ali's son, Sunny, is born and steals the spotlight as the next generation juggles pre-Civil War life west of Savannah in pristine Cousins, GA, established by O'Riley cousins. Surprise inspirational ending depicts real life in American frontier.

Moral responsibility toward the opposite sex, a hallmark of America's Age of Innocence, is tastefully presented in unforgettable vignettes. Salt Lick, Vol. I: Celebrate Life reminds readers that family loyalty goes a long way in developing a mature outlook on life, but flippant, uninhibited ignorance of youth must be preserved as the first step to adult practicality.
