Aetna sees TRS Medicare Advantage contract yielding over $800M in premiums

The company was recently awarded a group Medicare Advantage contract with the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, effective January 1, 2013. TRS has been a Commercial self-insured Aetna administrative services contract customer since September 1986. The conversion of existing eligible Aetna Commercial ASC membership to this Medicare Advantage product could yield over $800M of additional Medicare premiums in 2013, subject to the number of members that convert to this new MA product.
