Omontys Associated With Patient Deaths

Affymax voluntarily recalled its Omontys anemia drug amid reports of hypersensitivity. In some cases, there were even some patient deaths. That's killing the shares, sending AFFY down by 81 percent before the bell on my tradeMONSTER platform.

Hertz Rallies on Strong Results

Hertz earned $0.33 a share on revenue of $2.3 billion in the fourth quarter. Analysts had only expected $0.31 and $2.27 billion, respectively. Guidance was also strong as pricing improves, sending HTZ up by more than 6 percent in early trading. 

Avid Falls on Accounting Problems

Avid Technology announced it would postpone the release of fourth-quarter results, originally scheduled for tomorrow. The company wants more time to evaluate its accounting practices, and isn't sure when the review will be completed. AVID drops 9 percent in the premarket.
