AGL Resources employees celebrate commitment to local communities during annual Volunteer Week activities

Service projects to be completed May 11-17

ATLANTA - May 8, 2015 - As one of the nation`s largest natural gas distribution companies, AGL Resources (GAS) and its family of companies touch the lives of more than 4.5 million customers in 1,100 communities each day. While the company demonstrates its responsibility as a community partner year-round through various volunteer initiatives, employees collectively will focus their energy on making a positive difference in their communities during the company`s second Volunteer Week.

Between May 11 and May 17, employees, retirees, community partners, and their families and friends will participate in 41 volunteer projects. The range of activities include stocking shelves at a suburban Chicago food pantry, delivering hot meals to seniors in metropolitan Atlanta and sprucing up an oyster hatchery in southeastern Virginia.

"As a company, we believe wholeheartedly that giving back to the communities we serve and call home is the right thing to do," said Melanie Platt, executive vice president and chief people officer.
