CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) -- Akamai Technologies Inc. said Thursday that it has acquired software company FastSoft Inc. in a move intended to complement its cloud-computing services.
The company did not disclose the price paid in the all-cash deal.
FastSoft, based in Pasadena, Calif., was started in 2006. Its technology is designed to help improve website and web application performance.
Akamai, based in Cambridge, Mass., said the deal is expected to help it improve its server capacity, deliver higher throughput for video and improve its efficiency.
The acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on Akamai's financials.
Shares of Akamai increased 28 cents to close at $38.17. They added another 4 cents in after-market trading following the announcement of the deal.
