HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - Mar 20, 2013) - The American Marketing Association (AMA) Houston Chapter announced Aliana Development Company as the 2012 Marketer of the Year on Monday night, March 18, 2013, during AMA Houston's annual awards ceremony at the Alley Theatre. The Marketer of the Year award honors exceptional marketing by Houston-area companies, organizations and institutions. Aliana was selected by the final-round judging panel from among 33 previously named Best of Category Winners who were also recognized at the event. The firm had won Best of Category for Real Estate: Residential Builders and Developers as a first step toward becoming the 2012 Marketer of the Year.
Representing last year's Marketer of the Year, Susanne Theil of Discovery Green presented the award to Aliana Development Company, represented by Linda Kilgore, director of marketing. Aliana is a 2,000-acre master-planned community in Fort Bend County. The original developer had been unable to attract the Class A builders or homebuyers needed to establish momentum. In 2010, a new development team took over, and in spring 2012 they held a grand opening with an 11-home Model Home Village and Backyard Showcase. This year's keynote speaker was Matt Anthony, Global Chairman of VML, one of the world's leading digital marketing agencies, who spoke on the future of digital marketing. A vote of chapter members combined with votes from a panel of 14 local marketing professionals determined the 33 Best of Category Winners from over 130 nominations. Best of Category Winners submitted detailed information about their marketing programs, and a final-round judging panel of 19 marketing professionals from across the country scored each to select AMA Houston's 2012 Marketer of the Year.
