Allscripts Healthcare, Clinical Architecture Extend Alliance
Extending its association with Carmel, IN-based software solutions provider – Clinical Architecture, Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc. (MDRX) contracted to integrate the former’s comprehensive terminology management system, Symedical, with its dbMotion interoperability platform to streamline vocabulary mapping.
By incorporating Symedical, Allscripts intends to provide its clients with efficient and enhanced mapping tools and improved vocabulary distribution. This would allow the clients to achieve health information exchange and connectivity goals in a faster manner, helping them to improve care and outcomes.
Clinical Architecture’s Symedical is an integrated knowledge management system and an end-to-end terminology framework that enables a healthcare solution provider to cope with the complexity of clinical terminologies.
Back in Aug 2012, Allscripts first incorporated Symedical into its workflow to address the clinical technology needs of its entire product suite. Symedical is currently used by Allscripts for terminology management, content integration and to distribute and provide user-friendly search at the point of care.
Per the current arrangement, Allscripts staff uses Symedical to centrally load and update terminologies which are then published to each discrete install using the product’s automated content distribution features. When an Allscripts end user searches for content that is managed with Symedical, the search renders highly relevant weighted results.
The expanded use of Symedical with Allscripts dbmotion will leverage its interoperability features for code set mapping. This will include sophisticated matching algorithms, optimized workflow and the ability to promote consistency by using prior mapping selections to inform current decision processes.
Allscripts dbMotion integrates discrete real-time patient data from diverse care settings and health information technology systems into a single patient record and provider workflow, at the point of care. Such synchronized information across the enterprise enables providers to easily access and manage information within familiar workflows, facilitate better care and disease management and move a step closer toward new payment models.
With the combination of Allscripts dbmotion and Clinical Architecture’s Symedical, the company aims to accurately and objectively achieve a complete picture of a patient’s medical history which, in turn, would drive proactive and responsible patient care.
Currently, Allscripts carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Some better-ranked stocks include Alphatec Holdings, Inc. (ATEC) in the medical instruments industry and Merge Healthcare Incorporated (MRGE) and Omnicell, Inc. (OMCL) in the medical information systems industry.
