Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc. (MDRX) continues to gain popularity among hospitals and healthcare systems with its Sunrise Electronic Health Record (:EHR) platform – a comprehensive suite of fully integrated population health capabilities comprising inpatient, ambulatory, emergency care and surgical care solutions.
Most recently, Allscripts Sunrise EHR was deployed by Benton, AR-based Saline Memorial Hospital as its core clinical system through 2024. The hospital selected the EHR platform to help coordinate care, treatment and health of the Central Arkansas community it serves.
The hospital will also deploy Allscripts Sunrise Surgical Care, an enterprise-wide solution developed on the Allscripts Sunrise platform. Allscripts Sunrise Surgical Care provides a continuous, patient-level record tailored to meet the distinct IT needs of surgery, preoperative and postoperative care.
Earlier this year, Saline Memorial also chose Allscripts FollowMyHealth as its patient engagement portal and has begun rolling out the solution this summer. Allscripts FollowMyHealth provides patients with convenient online access to health information.
The FollowMyHealth portal, which integrates all systems across the enterprise, enables patients or family members to fill forms, view test results, refill prescriptions, request appointments and communicate with physicians.
Allscripts EHR in Arkansas
In July this year, Allscripts Healthcare Solutions established a connection of its EHR solutions with the State of Arkansas Healthcare Information Exchange (:HIE) to improve the quality and delivery of care across the state.
The State of Arkansas HIE organization, known as the State Health Alliance for Records Exchange (:SHARE), is an interoperable database managed by the Arkansas Office of Health Information Technology (:OHIT), which is the agency responsible for establishing and coordinating healthcare information technology (:HIT) activities across the state.
By leveraging Allscripts Healthcare Solutions’ integrated population health capabilities, the state intends to set up a proprietary, community aware population health framework that aggregates and organizes critical patient data. Incorporation of the Allscripts EHR platform is expected to enrich the depth and breadth of the SHARE database and enable providers, including those in rural regions, to maintain the health of and improve the quality of care for patients.
Allscripts Healthcare Solutions is making dedicated efforts to help governments and their agencies meet the objective of improved quality care. It has also been steadily working toward incorporating increasing number of health care professionals into its arm.
Since Jan 2013, there have been over 20 new Allscripts Sunrise commitments at existing client facilities or at new organizations globally. This translated into an impressive bookings improvement of 9.3% in the second quarter of 2014. The company also continues to enjoy an increased client demand for new and enhanced solution functionality across its entire product portfolio.
Allscripts Healthcare Solutions presently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Better-ranked stocks include Merge Healthcare Inc. (MRGE) and Omnicell, Inc.
