Yesterday, Amdocs Ltd. (DOX), a leading provider of customer experience systems and services, launched its Self Optimizing Network (SON) software platform. This platform will help wireless operators to optimize Radio Access Networks (:RAN) to improve customer experience.
Amdocs is gradually penetrating into the high growth areas of mobile network optimization. In Sep 2013, the company acquired privately-held Actix, a leading provider of software for mobile network optimization, for approximately $120 million.
Further, in Nov 2013, Amdocs took over Celcite Management Solutions for approximately $129 million. Calcite is a leading provider of network management and SON solutions. These acquisitions enhanced Amdocs’ Customer Experience Solutions (:CES) portfolio across telecom networks and information technologies.
Amdocs has the largest customer base and the broadest product line in the industry, including a full suite of end-to-end solutions for both Business Support Systems (:BSS) and Operations Support Systems (:OSS). The company’s CES 9.0 product suiteis the industry leading fully integrated platform of BSS, OSS and Network control.
Management declared that its newly launched the SON platform will be completely integrated into its existing OSS/BSS systems to efficiently monitor network issues in order to optimize customer experience.
Moreover, its SON platform will help wireless carriers in several directions, including lower operating expenditures, improved services to high-end customers and efficient management of heterogeneous networks (such as a combination of Long-Term Evolution, small cell and WiFi network).
Nevertheless, the RAN market is highly competitive with presence of large incumbent companies like Ericsson AB (ERIC), Alcatel-Lucent Soci (ALU) and Oracle Corp. (ORCL). It is to be seen how Amdocs establishes its foothold in this competitive but highly lucrative market. Currently, Amdocs carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).Read the Full Research Report on DOX
