THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) -- Amgen Inc. on Tuesday named Michael Severino as its new head of global development and chief medical officer.
Severino, 46, is now the company's senior vice president for global development. He has been with the company since 2004 and had been vice president for global development. The company's previous head of global development and chief medical officer is Sean Harper. Harper, 49, became Amgen's head of research and development on Monday.
Amgen announced in December that Kevin Sharer will retire as CEO in May and leave the company at the end of the year. It also said Executive Vice President of Research and Development Roger Perlmutter would retire Feb. 13. Harper has now replaced Perlmutter.
