CHATTANOOGA, TN--(Marketwired - Aug 23, 2013) - Hearing loss is one of the most common conditions facing older adults -- nearly 50 percent of individuals over 75 and 30 percent over 65 have hearing loss, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This may not be news to you if you have phone conversations with your grandparents and they frequently ask you to repeat yourself or speak up. While many seniors rely on phone conversations to stay engaged with family members, they often use phones not designed for their specific needs.

Help is on the way! Head to RadioShack for a special promotion this Grandparents Day on an amplified phone from Clarity, a division of Plantronics (NYSE: PLT), designed to make conversations clearer and easier to understand. From August 25 through September 8, 2013, RadioShack will offer the Clarity D703 for $49.99 (reduced from $69.99).

The Clarity D703™ is a cordless big-button phone that amplifies incoming sound up to 35dB, or twelve times louder than standard home phones, while removing unwanted and distracting noises. The D703 also utilizes DECT 6.0 technology and includes four adjustable tone settings to provide a customized listening experience. It features an extra-loud and clear speakerphone for hands-free conversations.

"So many people take phone conversations for granted," said Carsten Trads, president of Clarity. "For grandparents, these conversations are vital, as they keep seniors connected to loved ones. Our amplified phones are designed to help people with hearing loss hear clearly so they can enjoy conversations again."

The D703 is hearing aid compatible and is expandable with up to 5 handsets (D703HS). Additionally, it is equipped with a large, easy-to-read Caller ID display for users with low vision, and soft-touch and contoured keys to help people with dexterity issues like arthritis.

The D703 can be purchased at RadioShack locations across the United States or online at www.radioshack.com.
