Apple expanding in the U.S.

The consumer electronics giant has started work on a new 39-acre campus that will be home for its America's Operations Center. Apple's (AAPL) global HQ will stay in Cupertino, Calif., where it's building a new 2.8-mil-square-foot building that some think looks like a spaceship. Separately, Pearson (PSO)-owned Penguin Group settled with the DOJ over its role in allegedly conspiring with Apple and other e-book publishers to raise prices. Apple and Macmillan are fighting the DOJ action. Apple shares fell about 1.5% to 526.31.
