As Apple’s HealthKit arrives, Clear Sky Apps links its exercise apps together

Now that Apple’s Health app is aggregating data, it shouldn’t surprise you to see other quantified-self apps start to work better together. Take the suite of titles from Clear Sky Apps, for example: There are more than a dozen unique and specific health-related apps that will now link together for a better overall health picture.

The company makes what it says is the most downloaded 5k training app, “Couch to 5k,” as well as apps for other race distances, sit-ups, push-ups, squats and pull-ups. Combined, the apps have seen more than 25 million downloads to date. All of these are now updated for iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and are compatible with Apple HealthKit.

Why link the formerly distinct apps together? Because progress in one exercise area can affect training plans, offering the benefit of customized workouts. If I run a hard 5k (and they’re all getting difficult as I get older!), I don’t want to do squats later that day, for example. “Our users will be able to better tailor and structure their exercise schedule, providing them with an unmatched holistic workout program,” Benny Shaviv, CEO and founder of Clear Sky Apps, said. The company is linking 10 of its apps together with additional apps to follow.
