The consumer electronics giant exceeded 50% of U.S. smartphone sales for the first time, boosted by its latest-generation iPhone 5. Kantar Worldpanel ComTech shows Apple (AAPL) reached a 53.3% share in the 12 weeks ended Nov. 25. Phones based on the Google (GOOG) Android operating system collectively were No. 2 with 42% share. In Europe, Android phones remained tops with 61% of sales in the period. Apple phones were No. 2. Apple shares fell 2.40 to 519.33. Google fell 6.73 to 715.63.
