April Hale Completed Communication and Advocacy Certificate from TheCapitol.Net

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- April Hale completed her certificate in Communication and Advocacy from TheCapitol.Net. The Certificate in Communication and Advocacy is awarded to participants in the program who have completed more than 75 hours of communication and advocacy related training.

April Hale is Communications Director with the National American Indian Housing Council (NAIHC), a non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, DC, that advocates on behalf of tribal housing programs.

April Hale leads the communications and marketing efforts for NAIHC and assists in advocacy work on Capitol Hill and with federal agencies. April Hale did similar work as a Communications and Legislative Specialist for the National Congress of American Indians. Prior to that, April Hale was a staff writer for the Student Press Law Center in Arlington, VA. She served as a reporter for several newspapers, including the Argus Leader, Navajo Times, Native American Times, and Indian Country Today.

April Hale helped to establish the DC Native Public Relations Roundtable, a group of information officers from American Indian non-profit organizations, private sector, academia, and federal agency tribal programs. The Roundtable organizes events during American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month in the Washington, DC metro area.

April Hale is also a member of the Native American Journalist Association. April Hale is a citizen of the Navajo Nation from Iyanbito, NM. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Communications and Journalism (2006), and from the Freedom Forum Diversity Institute’s American Indian Journalism Institute at the University of South Dakota (2002).
