NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Arista Networks today announced two new additions to the Arista 7000 family of switches, offering new levels of density, performance and scalability. The new Arista EOS applications, Path Tracer and MapReduce Tracer, give customers deeper visibility for big data and cloud network applications while maintaining the open, standards-based, consistency for which Arista EOS is known.
The Arista 7050QX-32 and 7050SX-128 offer 32 x 40GbE or 96 x 10GbE and 8 x 40GbE wire speed ports respectively. The compact 1 or 2 Rack unit form-factor, ultra low-latency, VXLAN and NVGRE capability, and high power efficiency make the 7050X ideal leaf switches for high-density compute and storage racks.
The 32 x 40 GbE ports or 96 x 10 GbE and 8 x 40GbE port configurations make the 7050X ideal leaf switches for high-density server and storage racks, providing ultra-low latency and support for VXLAN.
Network Tracers Offer Advanced Telemetry
The new tracers complement existing health and network virtualization offerings for a full suite of Arista EOS Network Telemetry applications. Path Tracer provides end-to-end visibility into Layer 3 ECMP (equal cost multi-path routing) networks, proactively detecting, logging and reacting to gathered information. Arista EOS MapReduce Tracer provides correlation between big data applications and directly connected nodes to assist with discovery, troubleshooting and performance tuning of the network.
"Cloudera Enterprise, our Platform for Big Data, gives our customers access to all their data whether it's structured or not. It's the foundation next generation of data management infrastructure, and provides insights that haven't been possible until now," said Alan Saldich, vice president of marketing for Cloudera. "Arista's Map Reduce Tracer provides similar insights to network administrators in understanding network performance and big data workloads."
With Arista EOS software, customers and partners have access to open controller APIs. This controller-friendly approach gives Arista customers a full ecosystem of SDN (software defined-network) partners to work with in building programmable, self-healing networks. The Arista 7050X Series of switches builds on the toolsets provided by Arista Network Tracers and encapsulation technologies such as VXLAN, to enable designs based on the Arista Universal Network Architecture for physical and virtual workloads.
Platform Diversity and Scale
This latest introduction expands the portfolio of switches available with consistent Arista EOS in the form of a single binary image across all products, greatly simplifying network administration.
The Arista 7050X Series supports a flexible combination of 10GbE and 40GbE in a highly compact form factor. When used in conjunction with the Arista 7000 series of fixed and modular switches, it allows networks to scale to over 100,000 10 GbE servers in a low latency leaf and spine network that provides predictable, consistent application performance and monitoring. The flexibility of L2 and L3 multipath design options, combined with support for open standards, provides maximum flexibility, scalability, and network wide virtualization.
"The new Arista 7050QX-32 gives us an unprecedented switching capacity in a 1RU low-power package. Arista’s stable and capable EOS allows us to expand the complexity of our data processing network while keeping pace with our ever-expanding data center requirements," said John Belshaw, IT Architecture Advisor, CGG.
Pricing and Availability
All new products are orderable now. The 7050QX-32 and 7050SX-128 are available immediately. Pricing starts at under $1500 per 40GbE port.
Network Tracers are part of the EOS monitoring feature licenses available from under $2,000.
