Arizona State Credit Union presented the proceeds from its donation drive to gather funds for the families of the fallen heroes, the Granite Mountain Hotshots. The drive, which lasted over a month, brought in $186,488.48 total, with the Credit Union including its $20,000 of matched direct contributions.
The proceeds were presented to Prescott Firefighter’s Charities on October 16, 2013. The donation effort allowed members of the Credit Union and community to contribute to the fund. The proceeds, along with supplemental relief efforts, including emergency assistance funds, will be given to the families of the fallen firefighters.
“As a local financial cooperative, it is our responsibility to assist Arizonans in need, and to help the community do so as well,” said David E. Doss, President/CEO of Arizona State Credit Union. “We are honored to serve a community that has showed such strong support and commitment to helping other members during this time of need.”
The Credit Union received over $166,000 in the first three weeks of the donation drive. The funds were donated by members of the Credit Union, along with local business owners and community members. The names of those who donated to the fund are recognized on the Credit Union’s website at www.azstcu.org.
The Credit Union continues to offer various financial services to community members directly affected by the Yarnell fire, including emergency financial and loan assistance.
