The Cover Arizona Coalition, in coordination with federal agencies and more than 600 member organizations, will host enrollment events across the state on March 1 to help Arizona families find out if they qualify for Medicaid or the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace.

Enrollment assisters will walk Arizonans through the process and help people understand the options that are right for them. To find the closest event, Arizonans may dial 211 or visit

“The Cover Arizona Coalition’s 600+ members are dedicated to taking enrollment assistance and enrollment event opportunities to a new level -- and it all starts on March 1 with our Day of Action,” said Kim Van Pelt of St. Luke’s Health Initiatives, a coordinating partner of the Cover Arizona Coalition.

More than 110,000 Arizonans have signed up for coverage through Medicaid and the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace since Oct. 1, but thousands more have started applications without completing them. Others are simply unaware that they qualify for AHCCCS (Medicaid) or one of the plans in the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace. The March 1 effort comes before the federal deadline to enroll in more than 100 health plans available through the marketplace; Medicaid enrollment, however, continues through the year and is unaffected by the federal deadline.

Cover Arizona’s Day of Action is aimed at helping people wherever they are in the process. If an individual started an application and is stuck -- or completed one but needs to make changes -- experts can lend a hand. They will also help consumers understand how to choose a plan. They will not recommend specific plans, but can help explain the differences between them. Open enrollment for qualified health plans through the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace closes on March 31.
