Arris-Playcast Media to Offer Cloud Gaming on MEO TV

Leading video and broadband gear manufacturer, Arris Group Inc. (ARRS), recently collaborated with renowned cloud gaming service operator – Playcast Media – to deliver gaming facilities to Portugal-based MEO TV subscribers.

Playcast Media offers an extensive collection of cloud-based games to MEO TV customers. Also, the users enjoy the privilege to choose from different genres of games which include racing, shooting, action adventure and fighting.

Customers can also avail monthly subscription to popular game series like Street Fighter, the Lego Series, Sonic Generations, and Batman, at a nominal rate.

Arris’ set-top boxes will provide these gamers with a console quality experience and enhanced gaming support, thereby allowing players to save games instead of buying expensive CDs or video game consoles. Moreover, Arris offers high-resolution pictures which enhance the overall gaming experience.

As per industry analysts, the cloud gaming industry is expected to cross the $1 billion mark in 2019 from $281 million this year, at a CAGR of nearly 29%. Higher adoption of smartphones and tablets coupled with increased availability of broadband services will further drive growth at the industry.

In the second quarter of 2014, Arris’ total revenue stood at $1,429.1 million, up a whopping 42.9% year over year and in line with the Zacks Consensus Estimate.

Interestingly, Comcast Corp. (CMCSA), Time Warner Cable Inc. (TWC), Charter Communications Inc. (CHTR) and AT&T Inc. together constituted 58% of Arris’ total second-quarter revenue. Meanwhile, we believe that a strong product portfolio and lucrative partnerships with leading cable and media players will significantly boost the company’s top line moving ahead.
