Leading threat and contraband detection solutions provider American Science and Engineering, Inc. (ASEI) recently received an order for eight Z Backscatter Van (:ZBV) mobile inspection systems from an unnamed Middle East customer.
ZBV is a low-cost mobile X-ray screening system built into a delivery van. With one-sided, backscatter-only imaging and the option for Radioactive Threat Detection (:RTD), ZBV is used for screening vehicles, sea containers, and other cargo for terrorist threats and other fraudulent activities.
The Z Backscatter technology provides photo-like images of the contents of a container or vehicle, highlighting organic materials that reveal potentially hazardous or threat items.
The products play an integral part in protecting high-risk zones and are crucial for fighting terrorism and trade fraud, drug smuggling and weapon smuggling. The ZBV systems will be used to inspect vehicles and cargo at high-risk checkpoints.
The ZBV’s mobile platform allows for immediate deployment in response to security threats and its unmatched scan speed facilitates rapid screening. The system has been adopted globally by government agencies, border authorities, military bases, law enforcement departments and security agencies.
American Science has experience in developing advanced X-ray security systems. These technologies offer superior X-ray threat detection for plastic explosives, plastic weapons, liquid explosives, bombs and nuclear devices.
American Science currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Other stocks that look promising and are worth a look in the industry include Alliant Techsystems Inc (ATK) and Elbit Systems Ltd. (ESLT), both carrying a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), and B/E Aerospace Inc. (BEAV), which carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
