Athenahealth up on mobile buy

The maker of billing, collections and record management software for the health industry reached an agreement to buy Epocrates (EPOC), a provider of mobile services for physicians, for $11.75 a share, about $293 mil in cash. Epocrates' service is used by more than 330,000 U.S. physicians. Athenahealth (ATHN) President Jonathan Bush said in a statement Epocrates has a reputation as a trusted mobile provider with strong brand awareness. Athenahealth shares rose 2.2% to 77.99. Epocrates shares jumped 21.4% to 11.68.
