Aviat's Microwave Services for Oregon
Aviat Networks, Inc. (AVNW) has received a $13-million contract from the State of Oregon’s Radio System for providing microwave backhaul equipment and services. The State’s Radio System supports two critical departments - Oregon State Police (:OSP) and the Oregon Department of Transportation (:ODOT).
Aviat Networks is a leading provider of microwave networking solutions that transform communications networks to address the growing network traffic. Aviat will be deploying its Eclipse IRU600 microwave radios and third-party equipment to upgrade and consolidate the state's emergency first responder radio networks.
The project is believed to provide the foundation for integration of state agency and other public safety radio systems into an interoperable network. Thus, it will help police officers, transportation workers and other public safety officials to communicate across jurisdictions.
Aviat has been operating in Oregon for the past two decades. With this critical contract on board, it further emphasizes the State’s trust on Aviat’s microwave networking solutions.
In addition, North America has been a primary market for Aviat Networks as it contributed about 37% of the company’s total revenue. In the last reported quarter (3Q12), North America reported revenues of $52.9 million, which was 24.2% above the prior-year quarter and 27.8% higher sequentially.
Aviat primarily designs, manufactures and markets a wide range of wireless networking products, solutions and services to mobile and fixed operators, private network operators, government agencies, transportation and utility companies, public safety agencies and broadcast network operators around the world.
