B&G Foods, Inc. (BGS) recently re-introduced Old LondonMelba, with new packaging and flavors. The company will also introduce a new product called Old London Melba Toasts Ancient Grains. Meanwhile, the company has entered into a partnership with Lisa Lillien, the creator of the brand Hungry Girl, for promoting both products.
Old London Melba offers a perfect snacking option. Old London Melba Toasts Ancient Grains contains whole grains like millet, amaranth, buckwheat and quinoa. It contains only 60 calories per serving and thus is perfect for calorie conscious consumers.
Old London Melba Toast and snacks are baked twice and can be used with various toppings and dips. They contain no cholesterol and zero trans-fat per serving. Old London Melba Toasts contains only 60-70 calories while Old London Melba Snacks have only 110 calories.
With increasing lifestyle-related problems, there is a growing number of consumers who care about the nutritional value of their packaged food products. We believe that promotion from Lillien, a New York Times best-selling author and the creator of the Hungry Girl brand, would put a positive impact on the minds of the people.
Most of the companies are increasing the nutritional quotient of their portfolio in order to boost their revenues in the long term. For instance, another company General Mills (GIS) recently introduced six new flavors of Progresso ready-to-eat soups. The new flavors are offered in varieties such as New Vegetable Classics and Light and Traditional Soup flavors. Other than being low calorie, these soups contain the goodness of vegetables and spices and do not have any artificial flavors or added monosodium glutamate (MSG).
