midnighteye: Same old number parsing propaganda. "Installed wind power capacity has reached a milestone of 75 gigawatts" but what it doesn't say is that the efficiency is around 25% mainly because of uncooperative wind, so the average output is more like 19 gigawatts, enough to power 5 million American homes with electricity ON AVERAGE. Then the wind will be ideal at the wrong times, like in the middle of the night when coal/nuclear base load is operating, and you can't turn down nuclear to make way for wind at the drop of a hat. Wind is a disaster on many other fronts too especially for protected bird species like the Golden Eagle which they are driving into extinction in California but the main problem is that it is not a dispatchable energy solution and never can be. It is a great source of income for wealthy land owners in Congress though who get a nice risk free income from renting land for wind towers and can still use the land around them for cattle etc.
