BUTTE, Mont. (AP) -- Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana says it is opening a new call center in Great Falls.

The company made the announcement Monday at the Montana Economic Development Summit put together by U.S. Sen. Max Baucus. Blue Cross said the call center will employ 100 to 150 people.

It said hiring could start early 2104 for positions ranging from registered nurses to administrative and customer service jobs.

Blue Cross earlier this year was purchased by Chicago-based Health Care Service Corp., the nation's fourth-largest health insurance company.

Attorney General Tim Fox said the creation of a Montana call center was one the conditions state regulators required before approving the purchase.

A new Montana Healthcare Foundation is also being created to administer and distribute $40 million assets from the sale.
