WAVELAND, Miss., Aug. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A beach front home in Waveland, Miss., has sold at auction for $1,250,000, with Albert Burney Auctioneers marketing the property and managing the auction.
The auction drew 17 registered bidders, according to Warren A. Ward, president of the auction company. "We were really pleased with the result of this auction in several respects," said Ward. "Vacation homes have been slow to bounce back as the economy has begun its recovery. Despite that, we got it sold at a price that represented fair market value. A title company executive said this was the first house in the area to close for over $1 million in a year."
"I had hoped my custom-home would have brought more," said seller Julie Rossen. "However, after the auction, I felt a great sense of relief from the burden of carrying such a large property on my own. Since closing, I have been able to downsize and pursue the interests that I love. It was a challenging process, but Albert Burney was with me every step of the way. Looking back, it was the best decision for me. It has enabled me to begin a new chapter in my life."
Purchasing the home were out-of-state buyers who plan to use it as a vacation home until they retire and relocate to the home permanently.
"We're getting good results on a wide variety of properties in a very broad range – throughout the United States as well as Mexico and Central America. We're currently preparing for the auction of a luxury estate in Panama, and we've just agreed to auction a large amount of farmland in Canada," said Ward.
Upcoming auctions include a "gentleman's farm" in Saltville, Va., a large estate in Boquete, Panama, and a beach front estate in Ixtapa, Mexico. Individuals interested in these and other auctions may visit albertburney.com or call 256.543.1654.
