A Benzinga Analyst's Notes From Domino's Media Day

Quick notes from media day with Domino's Pizza, Inc. (NYSE: DPZ) CEO Patrick Doyle:

  • Two things keep Doyle up at night: food safety and cybersecurity. Says cyberecurity will continue to grow until economics of it get worse.

  • Loyalty program off to "very good start."

  • Doyle says Domino's does technology better than other pizza chains, will continue to invest there.

  • Won't monetize consumer data. "Is it possible, yes. Will we do it, no. We will use it to sell pizzas."

  • Noted that speed of service is something they still want to work on.

  • When asked about food safety and salads, mentioned that Ready Pac Foods was a partner they sought after due to salad kits that are packaged.

  • Doyle sees international growth in Sub-Saharran Africa, specifically countries like Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa due to growing GDP and population.

  • When asked what ares he wants to see international growth, he said anywhere that has significant population growth.

  • Noted the quick success of India vs. slow buildup of China. Two reasons China wasn't quick to catch on initially was due to lack of dairy in their diet and the culture of dining in at restaurant if they want to spend money on meal. Mentioned that Chinese culture now more open to dairy and Chinese consumer has changed dramatically to now you have McDonalds and KFC delivery.

  • One store opening typically equals 25 jobs, including three management positions.
