CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Aug 20, 2014) - BigMarker (www.bigmarker.com), the platform for learning and sharing through web conferences, announced today the beta release of the world's first full-featured web conferencing platform built entirely using the latest conferencing framework: WebRTC. The beta release is open to the public.

What is WebRTC? WebRTC is the future of virtual meetings and real-time content sharing. The browser-based framework -- which is supported by Google, Mozilla, and Opera -- provides a more consistent experience, improving on Flash plugins and software downloads.

What is BigMarker's take on web conferencing? BigMarker sees the power of people coming together in a live setting to learn from experts, discuss interests, and share knowledge with peers. Its goal is to make online learning more personal by digitizing what people have been doing at in-person conferences for decades.

Leveraging WebRTC will build on BigMarker's mission by helping its members engage more people, on more devices, in more locations.

"This release marks an important milestone for us and for our industry," says Zhu-Song Mei, BigMarker's Founder and CEO. "Transitioning to WebRTC will enable our users to reach broader audiences in a cost-effective way. As we continue to build the largest community of people learning together in web conferences, advancements like this one are critical to sharing knowledge and experience with people around the world."

Starting with Chrome users on Windows, Mac, and Android, BigMarker will soon enable people using virtually any device to access webinars, interactive talks, and presentations hosted on its platform. The initial set of features includes audio and video conferencing, desktop, presentation, and video sharing, as well as recording -- all with lower bandwidth requirements and no downloads. The platform will be capped at 25 attendees during the beta period, with plans to scale quickly.
