Black Friday 2011: Deals From Walmart, Target, Best Buy and More

    Fantasy Finance

While Black Friday is not necessarily the best day of the year to shop, it is still the most ritualistic shopping "holiday" with several stores opening at 12 a.m. Friday (or even earlier) with limited-time deals. An estimated 152 million Americans will be taking part in the retail festivities Friday and during the weekend, up from 138 million last year. If you're thinking of hitting the mall -- instead of watching various TV show marathons like me -- here's a handy list of the who's who of Black Friday and their featured door-busters. Keep in mind that on Black Friday, it's first-come, first-served, so some of these deals will go away once the item is sold out. (Also keep in mind that stores want you to feel pressure to buy. But it's not a good deal if you purchase something you don't need just because the price looks good.)

    Walmart

For the first time, Walmart will be kicking off its in-store specials at 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving and plans to scatter its offers. The following deals will kick off the event:

All I remember is that mad shoppers trampled and killed a Walmart worker back in 2007. No bargain was worth a man's life.
      • T 6 months ago
would you buy a gold bar for $10 when its worth 100 times that value...so yes
      • Appreciated 6 months ago
That's ignorant.l Why would you even write that? Is $1000 worth a man's life? ...so NO, dummy

To all you crazy black friday shoppers out there please remember the fact that the people who work in these and all stores are just that, PEOPLE, please treat us like so. We aren't hiding things from you, don't attack us when we don't have what you so desperately want anymore, you are either too late or it was never in our store to begin with. (Ads don't always reflect every single store, and it's usually in small print somewhere... surprise) Also realize that if you asked us to go get something for you or to look for something for you, there are hundreds and hundreds, if not thousands of people in the same small box as us... it's not always easy to maneuver around and get back to you quickly. For every 100 customers there is probably only one associate. Again, we are human, we are not robots, we are not some higher being with powers capable of answering prayers or wishes... we are just like you. So when you are out on Friday, try to treat us the way you want to be treated.

Here here!! From one retail associate to another. I dread working tomorrow. I cannot understand how people can get so rude and nasty if you don't have an item. Sheesh!
      • D 6 months ago
It is for you and all of the other retail workers that I refuse to shop on Thanksgiving or until 5:00 am on the day after Thanksgiving. Today is a holiday to be spent with family and friends, not working in a store or sleeping so that you are able to work.

While I agree you are absolutely right. People need to treat others with respect especially if asking them to do something for them. However on the other hand it would be nice if the store associates would also treat customers in the same manner. I have been to 2 big chain stores and when I ask an employee to help me locate something I have been brushed off and told to go find it myself. Not cool!! But I have also had associates be so kind and helpful that I have tracked down management to tell them how wonderful the person was and ho my experience went. So I guess Im trying to convey that this sentiment goes both ways. :)

How about a day of Thanksgiving, not thankless getting.

How about not slaughtering turkeys on that day but Turks instead ? " Hali tastes good with Ketchup"
      • GEORGEG 6 months ago
Thankless getting? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I guess you and the 241 pretentious haters that thumbed up your jealous comment never buy anything. Otherwise, you're a hypocrite.

I agree with GeorgeG. We were not "getting," we were purchasing... Big difference.

    • Richard  •  6 months ago
DONT BUY the Emerson Flatscreen TV's they only last 6 months before dying. Walmart always sells them cheap on Black Friday and the TV sucks.
    • Ericka  •  6 months ago
What gets me...aside from an occasional deal on some electronic (and usually they are only a deal if you are in need of that particular item), a lot of these "deals" are on things that are already cheap and useless before the sale. I mean like the PJ's they advertise at Walmart. At full price they are like $7 and on Black Friday they are under $5 which is a deal I guess but they are still cheap, ill fitting get one wear out of them PJ's so are they worth going out at midnight to snag? And those Barbies marked down to $5? They are the cheap no frills Barbies that your daughter doesn't want. And for a lot of these stores like Kohls and Macy's they have sales ALL of the time, EVERY weekend. You DON'T need to go out in the cold to get these things just so you can save a few bucks. Funny how so many people can be so fooled!

    • Go to Universal  •  6 months ago
I wonder if anyone will get trampled this year? How ridiculous this whole thing has become.
    • Tom  •  6 months ago
The headline read "40" TV for $199.00 - I guess so since some Chinese 14 year old made it and got paid 87 cents for and entire days work...Go support China America, then ask where are our jobs???

I'm pretty sure Jesus is looking down, and thinking so hard about coming back for those Black Friday door-busters, and he's bringing his pepper spray...(Oh you're asking "Who's Jesus?"...well, you see, there is this holiday coming up...and...ah it doesn't matter)

BOYCOTT BLACK FRIDAY - Don't act like sheeople - out there boosting China's Economy...

Black Friday (Getting their finances "In The Black") for the 1%, big, impersonal retailers, corporations that outsourced all our American Manufacturing jobs, and China

= Red Friday (Getting more in the RED/debt) for 99% of the American lower and middle class extending themselves on credit...)

      BOYCOTT BLACK FRIDAY

By the by, these stores making employees come in at midnight, 1 AM, 4 AM, working thanksgiving...all that is reason enough to NOT go to those stores...

What Would Jesus Do? - - I am pretty sure he wouldn't treat workers like the big retailers do, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Macy's, Sears, Walgreens, CVS, Best Buy et cetera...the only people who will benefit will be the CEO's of giant retailers, who profit immensely by selling Chinese crap, and who directly support the outsourcing of ALL of Americas jobs, and of course the greatest benefactor of Black Friday - - CHINA- - where it must be Black Friday everyday, since they make everything consumed in the world...

Boycott all greedy companies that made their employees work on Thanksgiving or that make their employees come in come in at midnight, 1 AM, AND 4 AM to staff stores to feed blind, retarded, sheeople, consumerism, people extending themselves on credit, thereby supporting big banks, buying tainted, plastic Chinese crap, thereby supporting China's economy...and what about our economy...record unemployment, record poverty, record food stamps, no end in sight...or...no new beginning in sight...

And at the end of the day, folks, this #$%$ not only has nothing to do with the holidays, it is actually 100% the opposite of the true idea and best things about the holidays...What Would Jesus Do? - I am pretty sure, it isn't "Trample your #$%$ for a Nintendo Wi"

Stay home enjoy your holidays, go hiking, read a great book, watch a great movie, cook with your loved ones, create with your loved ones, go to a great LOCAL restaurant, if you must buy, support small local businesses, and BUY AMERICAN (Good luck on this one...though there are web sites that sell only made in America stuff...)

      Movie recommendations...

Go enjoy these with your family...learn something, enjoy the holidays, but the holidays have nothing to do with being pressured by the media, and your own emptiness and boredom to go buy a bunch of junky, tainted, plastic crap, that is ruining our environment...

      Movies - For knowledge

TerrorStorm - 9-11 In Plane Sight - Loose Change - Sir, No Sir! - Winter Soldier - Hearts and Minds - White Light, Black Rain - The Panama Deception - The End of Poverty - GasHole - Who Killed The Electric Car

      Movies - for fun

Trading Places - Harold and Maude - Watchmen - Hellboy - KickAss - Four Lions - V For Vendetta - Sweet and Low Down - Hot Fuzz - Eagle Vs. Shark - Black Dynamite - Being There.

And another thing - a lot of people will not only go out and support China and big greedy corporations this year they will also Extend themselves on CREDIT CARDS - STOP! don't do that - - don't buy into the hype - This crap - - Has nothing to do with Christmas!"

Black Friday is one big gimmick, 40 in. tv for $199. only ten tv per stores, so they got hundreds of ppl standing in line for hours for one tv.but they only have 10.
    • SCOTT  •  6 months ago
black friday, yeah right. try walmart on thanksgiving night. i never knew that people could be so redneck, rude, crude and just plain old stupid. never again for me. walmart must have been the most chaotic, unorganized retailer i have seen for black friday.
    • Some Dude  •  6 months ago
Who gives a rat's #$%$ Most of us can't afford it anyway this year.
    • Jane  •  6 months ago
What is this world coming to? Thanksgiving is family time and to be thankful store all should be closed ; Christmas is also getting way out of hand do everyone forget the meaning of Christmas??
    • Jojoman  •  6 months ago
Black Friday is the greatest scam pulled over on the American people. The twisting of numbers and they camp out for days. Two days of camping to save $100. If you need to save a $100 dollars, then you shouldn't buy it. If you don't have a job, the last thing you should be doing is spending three days camping outside a store, to buy things that you shouldn't buying in the first place, If you can take off work to camp out for three days, then the saving of that item is lost in the taking off of work. In fact the item has cost you more. Stupid people make life so much fun.
    • First L  •  6 months ago
Yes my greedy monsters, come spend... SPEND!! Put yourself further in debt!!! MUHAHAHAHAHA!! Succumb to corporate america and make others rich while your neighbor is being foreclosed on. Sincerely Yours, The Devil.
