Blue Cross schedules job fair for laid-off workers

Blue Cross Blue Shield of ND schedules job fair of laid-off workers at Fargo research company

FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- Officials at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota are recruiting workers who lost their jobs at a Fargo biomedical research company.

More than 300 PRACS Institute employees were laid off last week when the company announced it was headed toward bankruptcy. The company had operated in Fargo for three decades.

Blue Cross officials have scheduled a job fair for PRACS workers on Tuesday.

Michelle Kommer (KOE'-mer), senior vice president of human resources for Blue Cross, says many of the PRACS employees have skills that would work well in the health insurance industry.

Blue Cross also has openings at its affiliated companies, including Noridian Administrative Services. Some of the positions include information technology, customer service, marketing and finance.
