RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Brink's has made the positions of interim president and chief executive permanent.

Thomas Schievelbein, 58, became the company's interim president and chief executive in December 2011, after serving as interim executive chairman for the previous month. He joined the Brink's board in 2009.

The security company said Monday that it has undertaken an extensive search before deciding to make the positions permanent.

Schievelbein retired as president of Northrop Grumman's Newport News subsidiary in November 2004 and has worked as a business consultant since November 2004.

Shares of Brink's Co., based in Richmond, Va., closed at $22.32 Friday.
