Earnings, Revenue Beat The Street
Baidu reported second-quarter profit of $1.24 a share, versus the $1.11 average analyst estimate. Revenue of $858.8 million also beat the $850.8 million consensus number. BIDU climbs 6 percent before the bell on my tradeMONSTER platform.
Strong Guidance Lifts Sanmina-SCI
Sanmina-SCI's third quarter was mixed, with earnings weak but revenue ahead of expectations. The fourth quarter is expected to be better, with profit of $0.32 to $0.38 and revenue of $1.575 to $1.625 billion. The Street is looking for $0.34 and $1.53 billion, respectively. SANM climbs 20 percent in the premarket.
Elan Plunges on Drug Trial Data
Elan, along with Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson, announced that their bapineuzumab drug failed to slow memory loss among patients at risk of Alzheimer's disease. The news potentially cuts in half the potential market for the compound. ELN drops 13 percent before the bell.
Healthstream Climbs on Top-Line Strength
Healthstream reported second-quarter revenues of $25.8 million versus the $25.5 million consensus. The company also raised the lower end of its full-year revenue guidance. HSTM climbs 12 percent in the pre.
