Mobile Ads Impress the Bulls
Facebook reported third-quarter earnings of $0.12 a share on revenue of $1.26 billion. Analysts had expected $0.11 and $1.23 billion respectively. Even more important than the beat, however, was the growth in mobile advertising. That prompted Citi to upgrade the stock to "buy," and FB is surging by 24 percent before the bell on my tradeMONSTER platform.
RF Micro Results and Outlook Beat Consensus
Other chip makers have been hurt by the decline in PCs, but RF Micro Devices is riding the mobile boom! Earnings in the second quarter totaled $0.03 a share and revenue was $209.67 million, beating the analyst estimate for $0.01 and $198 million. Guidance was also better than expected, and RFMD is up 16 percent in early trading.
Weak Subscriber Growth Hurts Netflix
Netflix's results came in ahead of consensus, but growth isn't going as quickly as hoped. Only 1.2 million U.S. customers signed up for its on-demand TV service, and gains have also been disappointing abroad. Investors are also changing the channel, sending NFLX down 16 percent in the premarket.
Boeing Climbs on Strong Results, Guidance
Boeing reported third-quarter profit of $1.35, beating the $1.13 average estimate. Revenue missed slightly, but guidance was strong. BA climbs by 3 percent in the pre.
